Sara Winslow, Chair of our Grant
Giving Committee shares an update:
“I want to briefly explain how your donations help
the charities we support and show the real impact
of your contributions by highlighting two projects
which were funded through this round of grants.”
The Pump House Project is an independent charity in Faringdon,
Oxfordshire. We were asked to support a project, which offers
counselling for teenagers, to help them manage stress and mental
health challenges.
This project required a grant of £8,360 to support confidential sessions
led by trained counsellors. Our grant will enable support for 34 young
people aged 16-18, making a significant impact at an important time in
their young lives.
Rob Nobes from Financial Promotions sponsored the grant application.
He volunteers for the service himself. With CAMHS leaving young
people waiting over 12 months to get help, the Pump House project
offers timely access to much needed support for teenagers who are
struggling.
Furnishing Futures is an East-London based charity that supplies fully
furnished social housing for women and children who are leaving
domestic abuse. They also offer specialist support to help survivors
rebuild their lives.
The Foundation supported them with a grant of £10,000 to help fund
this project which was nominated by Becky Stuckey from Mortgage
Design.
Their approach aims to foster trust with service users and support safer
outcomes. They have also started a new Access to Work programme
this year, which is intended to assist women who are seeking
employment. The programme offers confidence-building sessions,
mentoring, work experience, CV writing, and interview training to
support participants in preparing for future opportunities.
“I hope this brief overview and highlights clarify
how your contributions help the charities we
support. Your involvement is essential, so thank you
for your ongoing support”.
