A high-flying opportunity for visually
impaired young people
Sight for Surrey supports people living with visual and hearing
impairments and their families and the Openwork Foundation was
delighted to support their work with a grant this year.
Representatives of the Foundation enjoyed a visit to a session we had
funded when a group of young people fearlessly took to the skies
during an iFly skydiving experience, soaring high in the wind tunnel!
Stuart Jacob, director at Oakwood Mortgages, who nominated the
charity said, “We were thrilled to nominate Sight for Surrey. Their work
brings joy and truly enhances lives.”
Supporting the Armed Forces
Para-Snowboarding Team
In November Alan Mackellar (Foundation Ambassador) and Katie
Laycock (2plan fundraising parachutist!) attended a training session
with The Armed Forces Para-Snowboarding Team (AFPST) at Castleford
Snozone.
The Armed Forces Para Snowsport Team (AFPST), nominated for
support by Chris Rigby, Operations Manager, provides life-changing
opportunities through adaptive snowboarding, alpine, and Nordic
skiing for service personnel and veterans with physical or psychological
conditions.
Alan commented, “It was very inspirational speaking with many of the
beneficiaries who have suffered life changing injuries and hearing how
they have changed their lives around after serving in various conflicts
from Northern Ireland to Afghanistan. This is where the money goes,
so thank you for your continued support.”
