Supporting charities: Armed
Forces Para-Snowsport Team
About AFPST
The Armed Forces Para-Snowsport Team (AFPST) harnesses the
transformative power of adaptive snowsport for service personnel
and veterans with physical or psychological conditions. The charity
was nominated for support by Chris Rigby, Operations Manager at
the Openwork Partnership, a military veteran himself, who helps
coach the team and witnesses first-hand the difference AFPST
makes.
“The impact of providing purpose during recovery is
difficult to express in words, but witnessing veterans transform,
from rock bottom to achieving personal goals and rediscovering
their identity is something that must be seen to be truly
understood. AFPST doesn’t just change lives; it saves them.”

The grant and its impact
In 2025, we provided a sponsored grant of £15,000 to help AFPST
deliver sessions at Snozone facilities using adaptive equipment
and specialist coaching. Alongside preparing athletes for overseas
training and competition, these activities help rebuild confidence,
enhance wellbeing, foster a renewed sense of purpose and
independence, and create a lifelong community of belonging.
In November,
Alan Mackellar
(2plan Foundation
Ambassador) and
Katie Laycock
(2plan fundraising

attended a training
session with The

Ben Gallagher, from AFPST also
attended our 2025 Foundation
Lord’s Dinner to speak about
the work of the charity.
“It was a very inspirational speaking with many of the
beneficiaries who have suffered life changing injuries
and how they have changed their lives around after
serving in various conflicts from Northern Ireland to
Afghanistan. This is where the money goes, so thank
you for your continued support.”
