A mountainous
fundraising challenge!
Taking on the National Three Peaks on a blazing weekend!
On one of the hottest weekends of the year, Phil
Chapman, Ian Gourley, Matt Latham, Rory Avery and
Alex Davies, set off for Scotland to start their epic
challenge, to take on the National Three Peaks in 24
hours.
They began their ascent of Ben Nevis at 6:30 am on
Saturday, pushed through the night to conquer Scafell
Pike, and summited Yr Wyddfa as the sun rose on
Sunday morning, reaching the peak at 5:50 am, well
within their ambitious time limit.
The team raised over £10,000 for the Foundation. The
challenge is no mean feat whatever the weather, but
the soaring temperatures made it truly heroic.
Openwork heroes tackle a gruelling ride in Cuba
The 2025 overseas cycle saw 22 cyclists from
across The Openwork Partnership complete a
gruelling 400km cycle across Cuba in six days
in temperatures above 30 degrees, raising over
£60,000 for the Openwork Foundation. With
advisers from both Openwork and 2plan, the
group included some very experienced but
also some complete novice riders.
There were thrills and spills along the way
(the guide doctor was called on more than
once to tend to bloodied limbs), but the
team aged from 21 to 76, happily made it
safely to the end together.

“It was such a privilege to take part
in this extraordinary trip, and I am very proud
of the whole group who showed real grit
and determination, especially riding up those
stunning but steep Cuban hills! Openwork is
rightly proud of the work of the Foundation
does to help charities up and down the
country for the last 44 years but it’s essential
we keep fund raising to support it.”
