Supporting charities
Our grant programmes support a wide variety of charities which work with vulnerable people,
helping people at all stages of their lives. Examples include hospices, air ambulances and
disability and health-related charities, as well as services supporting people experiencing
homelessness, addiction and abuse. We provide funding to UK registered charities
operating domestically and overseas.
Cumbernauld Action for
Care of the Elderly
Iain Lowe, 2plan IFA, explains how he came to
put forward a grant to support the elderly in
Cumbernauld and shared the delight of the
charity on hearing that funds had been awarded
to support their work.
“I was with a client recently who,
until her recent retirement, had been the
CEO of Cumbernauld Action for Care of the
Elderly (CACE). She explained that the charity
support over 400 elderly people every
month in the local and further area with
lunches, workshops, wellbeing clinics and any
other help they might need.
We all know that many elderly people
struggle not just with higher living costs but
loneliness and a feeling that they’re invisible
to everyone else, but that’s where CACE
comes in
I happened to mention the Openwork
Foundation to the client and that we could
put CACE forward for a grant. I cautioned
her that nothing was guaranteed as there
are so many charities that need assistance.
However, I received a phone call from the
Foundation late last week to advise that
CACE were being awarded £13,000. When I
told my client, she was over the moon. She
said, as an example, that this amount could
keep the daily lunch service going for at least
six months.
It was wonderful to hear that the Openwork
Foundation is far reaching and has helped
a local charity that is in so much need of
support.”
